The Old Town District Of Schwerin

In the Middle Ages, a great fire destroyed almost all parts of the city centre. Schwerin was left devastated and had to start everything from scratch. In the middle of ruins, its population was looking for a new beginning and built many of the buildings we see today. So the city centre developed in the 19th century’s style of Historicism, with 77 hectares of impressive squares and houses.
